Q. What is an escape room?
A. An escape room is a real-life action game where players must work together to solve clues, find hidden puzzles, and complete their given mission within an hour. It’s a kind of like a cross between an episode of Poirot and the Crystal Maze, minus the crazy bald men running round.
Q. Is it scary?
A. While some escape rooms aim to shock and scare, our goal is to make sure you have the best experience possible. We don’t believe you need to be scared to enjoy an escape game, so none of our themes are ‘horror’ or gory. No monsters or murderers here!
Q. Am I ever really locked in the room?
A. At Bridlington Escape, you are never actually locked in any of the rooms. In the event of an emergency, or if you need to use the toilet, you are able to leave the room immediately.
Q. I’m no good at puzzles – what if I can’t do it?
A. Every game is watched over remotely by a Games Master. They will offer help if needed, sending hints and clues directly through to your room. However, it’s not always the smartest of the groups that do the best, it’s often the best communicators who shine in these situations. Just get stuck in and you may well surprise yourself with how well you do!
Q. Do you take custom bookings outside of slots offered online?
A. We will try our best to accommodate bookings to suit you if there is a more convenient time, but obviously this will depend on what other games are already booked in for that day. If you would like to request a custom time, please email us at enquiries@bridlingtonescape.com with as much advance notice as possible.
Q. Is there an age restriction?
A. There is no specific minimum age requirement and all rooms are safe for people of all ages. Very young children may find the puzzles difficult, so may not get the most out of the game. Therefore, children under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult.
We do not recommend bringing children under the age of 6
Q. What should I wear?
A. Just wear comfortable clothing and footwear that you can move around in easily. Keep in mind that the rooms may start to warm up as the clock ticks down and tensions start to rise!
Q. What time should I arrive?
A. We require you to arrive 15 minutes before the game is due to start for your introduction and game briefing. Please ensure you allow time for traffic, parking, finding us etc. to make sure you get here on time.
Q. What happens if I’m late?
A. As escape games are a live event, we ask that you do your best to arrive on time so that we don’t run behind. The timer on the game will start at your booked time if you are not here, and you will be welcome to play any remaining time you have once you have completed the briefing. No refunds will be made for lost time.
Q. What if I need to cancel?
A. We are not able to offer refunds on any bookings once they have been made, however in exceptional circumstances we may be able to reschedule your booking to a different day/time. Please note, we can only reschedule bookings up to 2 working days before a booked slot – after this it will be classed as a cancellation and no refund will be given.
Q. I’ve booked a room but now want to bring more players – can I?
A. Yes, you can bring extra people (up to the room limit) on the day. You will need to pay for them on arrival at a cost of £10 per person.
Q. Will we have the room to ourselves?
A. Yes, all rooms booked will be for the sole use of you and your team.
Q. Is there wheelchair access?
A. Sorry, we are located on the first floor (up 2 flights of stairs) with no lift or wheelchair access.
Q. Can I bring alcohol into the room?
A. No, alcohol is not allowed on the premises. If we feel that any of the group are intoxicated, they will be refused entry.
